Initial Consultation
An initial 30-minute consultation is always undertaken by an experienced consultant ophthalmologist and includes diagnostic testing. Lipid layers on the eye and tear break-up time are measured, and a full symptom history is taken. Imaging of meibomian glands (meibography) is available on request for an additional charge.
Other conditions can sometimes mimic dry eye syndrome. If there is no evidence of dry eye, the ophthalmologist will consider other possibilities. Where advisable, you will be offered other tests, such as OCT imaging to view the retina and other parts of the eye.
Treatment options will be outlined, your questions will be answered, and you will be offered the option of proceeding directly to treatment.
The charge of an initial consultation is £295.
Imaging of meibomian glands is £100.
